Augustus Saunders
Augustus Page Saunders (1 March 1801 - 21 July 1878), FRS was a British Headmaster of Charterhouse School and Dean of Peterborough Cathedral.
He was the son of Robert and Margaret (née Keble) Saunders of Lewisham and educated at Charterhouse School and Christ Church, Oxford.
He was ordained a priest in 1825 and in 1832 appointed vicar of Ravensthorpe, Northamptonshire, resigning in 1835. He was also made a domestic chaplain to the Bishop of Oxford in 1832. He was awarded DD (Doctor of Divinity) in 1842
He served as Headmaster of Charterhouse School from 1832 to 1853 and was then Dean of Peterborough from 1853 until his death.〔 (【引用サイトリンク】title= Fasti Ecclesiae Anglicanae 1541-1857: volume 8: Bristol, Gloucester, Oxford and Peterborough dioceses ) 〕 In 1872 he declined the Deanery of Winchester.
